The second NGO Fund of the EEA/Norway Grants

Following the first NCTA programme, which ran from 2004 to 2009, Autonómia served for the second time as one of the managing organisations between 2012 and 2015, in collaboration with the Ökotárs Foundation, the Foundation for the Development of Democratic Rights and the Carpathian Foundation-Hungary, managing the EEA and Norwegian Civil Society Fund (NCTA) of the EEA and Norwegian Financial Mechanisms.

The overarching aim of the support programme provided by Norway, Iceland and Liechtenstein to help the less developed Member States of the European Union catch up was to “support the development of civil society in Hungary and strengthen its participation in shaping social justice, democracy and sustainable development.”

To this end, the Fund provided support for projects developed in the following seven thematic areas:

• human rights and democracy;
• women’s rights and equal opportunities;
• organisational and community development;
• youth and children’s issues;
• environmental protection and sustainable development;
• welfare services for socially vulnerable groups;
• empowerment of socially vulnerable groups (focus: Roma integration).

Autonómia was responsible for the themes of welfare services for socially vulnerable groups and the empowerment of socially vulnerable groups.

Under the second NCTA programme, the consortium announced a total of 7 calls for proposals, to which 2,767 civil society organisations submitted 3,859 applications. Of these, 407 organisations received funding for 460 applications (of which 430 were implemented).
