Roma youth bring change

The aim of the project was to use experiential methods to help young people better understand the challenges facing members of vulnerable groups and society as a whole.

During the initiative, the Autonómia Foundation transferred the methodology of the social investigation game, created jointly with its professional partner Detectivity, to the North Macedonian RROMA organisation, whilst they shared their own community campaign methodology with us.

As part of the partnership, a five-day international training course was held, with eight young people from each organisation taking part, whom we trained as game and campaign facilitators: They were introduced to methods for planning and implementing social investigation games and community campaigns, as well as techniques for facilitating non-formal educational events and role-playing.

Following the training, the young people organised investigative games and community campaigns in their own countries, working in peer groups to address local social issues. These initiatives directly involved more than 350 young people and professionals. Videos and case studies were also produced as part of the campaigns.

The programme aimed to develop the skills of the young people taking part in the training and to broaden their professional experience, whilst for those involved in the community games and campaigns, it sought to develop their critical thinking and social awareness in relation to the chosen topics.
