Development Training

The aim of the project was to strengthen Roma organisations in Vojvodina, develop their cooperation and increase their social acceptance. The programme was implemented by Autonómia in cooperation with the EUPSZ in Senta, with the support of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Hungary. The project primarily targeted Roma organisations registered in Vojvodina, self-organised groups, as well as local community leaders, decision-makers and representatives of the press.

During the project, data was collected and a needs assessment carried out regarding the situation and requirements of the organisations; based on this, training sessions, study visits and mentoring were provided to support the participants. The three long-weekend training sessions focused on improving organisational operations, project planning and strengthening cooperation, whilst the study trips in Hungary allowed participants to learn about numerous examples of good practice. The project’s results were presented in a bilingual publication and at a public conference.

As a result of the programme, links between Roma organisations were strengthened, their visibility and willingness to cooperate increased, and several organisations continued their work with concrete development ideas and new grant applications.
