The project was launched with the aim of enabling children and their families living in small settlements with large Roma populations to learn the basics of subsistence farming that is environmentally conscious.

As part of the programme, training sessions were organised in collaboration with schools, Roma organisations and local communities, where participants gained theoretical and practical knowledge of horticulture, environmentally friendly agricultural practices and waste management technologies, such as composting.

As part of these activities, school kitchen gardens were established, where participants grew their own fruit and vegetables, contributing to the supply of institutional kitchens.

The target group consisted primarily of disadvantaged Roma and non-Roma families, school-age children, and young people living in care homes.

As a result of the project, cooperation between Roma communities, civil society organisations and educational institutions was strengthened, whilst participants gained practical knowledge and useful experience. The vegetables and fruit produced were partly used to supply institutional kitchens, contributing to the utilisation of local resources.

The programme helped to promote an environmentally conscious approach and strengthen local self-sufficiency.
